Marking on a Desk Nameplate

Marking on a Desk Nameplate

Laser Marking on Desk Nameplates is a Craftsmanship Process that Combines Technological Precision and Creativity.
This method, particularly used for bi-layered ABS nameplates, delivers high-quality and long-lasting aesthetic results. Let’s explore the preparation and processing stages of these elegant nameplates.

What is Laser Marking on Bi-layered Acrylic (ABS)?

Laser marking on bi-layered acrylic (ABS) is a technique that uses a laser to engrave a design or text. For desk nameplates made from bi-layered ABS, the process involves an acrylic material with two color layers: an upper layer and a lower layer. The laser etches the top layer, revealing the second layer underneath. This not only creates a visually appealing contrast but also ensures greater durability and resistance of the marked text or design.

Preparation of Plexiglass

The first step in the artisanal process is the preparation of the plexiglass support. This material, known for its versatility, is processed using two main techniques: cutting and bending.

  1. Cutting: The plexiglass is cut according to the desired dimensions and shape for the nameplate. This can be done using a laser to ensure clean and precise edges.
  2. Bending: Once cut, the plexiglass is bent to achieve the final shape of the nameplate. This step is crucial to ensure the support fits perfectly and maintains the desired shape.

Laser Marking of Bi-layered ABS

After preparing the plexiglass support, the next step is the marking of bi-layered ABS. This two-layered acrylic material is placed in the laser for marking. The laser works on the top colored layer, removing it and revealing the second layer underneath.

  1. Laser Setup: The laser is configured to engrave precisely on the top layer of the material. Settings include laser power, engraving speed, and the type of design or text to be applied.
  2. Marking: During the marking process, the laser gently etches the top color layer, creating a visual contrast with the second layer beneath. This method not only produces a refined visual effect but also enhances the durability of the mark, making it more resistant to wear and scratches.

Assembly and Finishing

Once the marking is complete, the final step is assembling the nameplate. The bi-layered ABS nameplate is secured to the plexiglass support using an aluminum profile. This profile not only gives the nameplate an elegant and professional appearance but also provides additional structural support for easy nameplate replacement.
